Now you might be saying to yourself: what? Emergency bra funding? How is that a thing? Let me tell you, my friends.
I had two bras for seven months. Exactly two. Not two “good bras”, not two “favorite bras”, just two. I’ve been wearing the same two bras for months. One is strapless, and I wear it less. The strapless bra broke and I’ve been trying to continue to wear it even though it does virtually nothing. Now my only bra that was not in shambles has completely fallen apart from overwash and overuse, and I am in desperate need of a new one BEFORE my job orientation at Target, on the 31st.
I haven’t started yet, in other words, and I need help getting a goddamn bra to wear to work. The one bra I had that fell apart this morning is in a specific style and size that I know fits me okay- not well, probably not even right, but it works, and so I’ll take it. It’s a Playtex bra found at Target, Walmart, Kohls, pretty much all department stores. It’s on sale for 18.99 today and they have ONE at Kohls, so that’s where I need to go.
On the website “One Hanes Place” this same bra is 14.80. But the problem is I need this bra today, the one I have on right now is literally falling apart.
Any donations or commission money I receive will go toward the purchase of an $18.99 bra at Kohls. Once that goal is reached, any extra money will be saved for two identical bras at One Hanes Place dot com.
Please, it would mean so much to me if you could signal boost.
hey, guys (especially college-bound or college-attending kiddos)! have you ever heard of dormco?
it’s an online shopping site aimed to sell carpets, furnishings and other dorm-related accessories for cheaper than you’d get them in a store. the more expensive the furnishings get, the lower the price is. it’s actually pretty neat for people who really want to have a nice dorm and pay less.
plus, your entire order (no matter how much stuff you order in one go) ships for $2.95 (so like you can get sheets, a mini-fridge, a lamp, and a rug shipped to you for under $3), which can be really fucking cheap if you look at some of those shipping costs on ebay and amazon.
the best part is, even if you aren’t living in a dorm, you can probs still use this website to get some neat things for less. i know they have lamps, bookshelves, futons, etc etc.
Coldplay hack #6: how to make fabric cut outs that don’t need hems
This is good for appliqué and other such fabric uses that you don’t want to unravel but you can’t finish the edge with a hem
Fusible webbing/ iron on interfacing
A stencil if desired
For Large Appliqué : take the fusible webbing and flip it to the BUMPY side!
This is the side that will attach to your fabric making it the “right side”
draw out the shape of the piece you desire(in exact dimensions) or cut out a swatch big enough that you can cut your desired piece out after ironing
To finish, set your iron to the highest setting your fabric can take, and carefully melt the interfacing glue to your fabric
Be patient, because if you do not get the edges good, it could unravel on you
Also choose a single side ( I prefer the center) and iron carefully so as not to create wrinkles or bubbles- there is nothing you can do if these occur
Small Appliqué Pieces:
You may follow the same procedure as before, but if you are making many pieces this way is faster
Cut out a swatch of webbing big enough that you could cut out all of your shapes, and carefully iron it to the back of desired fabric
Once attached, you can free hand cut your designs, or flip it over to the interfacing side and sketch your shapes for cutting *this must be a reverse image or words and such will come out backwards* so if you are using stencils, flip so that you write letters/numbers/whatever backwards
Cut out traced pieces from the interfaced fabric, and you’re done :3
Content warning: This post contains graphic language, slurs and triggering content
This article is heartbreaking. And true.
There is a reason I throttled back on doing a lot of creative gaming content a few years ago. And why I still avoid taking some jobs in the gaming world when they’re offered to me. And why, when we have a female host on any of our Geek and Sundry gaming shows, we have to monitor the comments on YouTube extra, to remove the many comments that are offensive and pollute our community’s spirit of equality. Because I hate that shit.
There is an endemic acceptance in the gamer world that “well, it comes with the territory” when a woman receives threats and harassment and the hateful anonymous internet dialogue is focused on her body and whether they would “do” her or not. I don’t know why this became okay. It’s a vocal minority that has been given way too much power over the industry dialogue, and I am so happy to see more and more articles like this shining the light on what reasonable gamer men and women have been conned into accepting as a given.
NOTHING is a given in this world. And frankly, it taints the art form we so love and keeps it back from becoming more respected and more diverse to not at least TRY to fight it. Gaming deserves more than complacency in this area.
Even posting this link will cause me to receive hateful Tumblr PMs. I can always tell when something I write gets linked on certain places on the internet (like 4 Chan or a few other forums of troll-hood), because I’ll immediately get dozens of hate mails along the veins of what is posted in this article.
Well, I’m a lucky one to be prominent enough to have 10 supporters for every hater. I mostly feel sorry for girls and women who aren’t in my position, who may just give up on gaming when they’re too beaten down to fight anymore.
We have to change that. For the good of what we love doing, gamers! Okay, back to work :)
friendly reminder that there’s a cut scene in Thor that while the Destroyer is blowing shit up, Darcy runs into the pet store to save all the animals and give them to people leaving the town
as things are being set on fire around her, she talks to the dog, telling him I won’t let the big scary monster step on you, and names it Baker
Game of Thrones Theme (1986 Remix)
I WISH YOU COULD SEE MY FACE RIGHT NOW THIS IS AMAZING
Ok so I don’t think we’ve ever posted remixes (we have posted mashups though), but this is pretty sweet.
The first time i saw this vine, i laughed so hard.

I have been laughing at this for hours now…
So, true story. The woman in this photo is Kendra Kaplan. Her husband was in Iraq for twelve months but the military has this thing called leave. Some of us may recognize the concept from old episodes of Star Trek. In this photo she is five months pregnant after conceiving her second child during her husband’s leave. That envelope in her hand is the ultrasound results. She waited for him to come home to find out if it was a girl or a boy.
There’s been several articles about it.The photo resulted in this woman receiving so much hate mail, from both internet cut-ups and the actual media, that she even took a paternity test and provided proof of her husband’s leave schedule. Her real life friends have stopped talking to her over these rumors.
Oh, and by the way, that baby bump is a two year old by now. People are still shitting on this woman over a nasty internet meme two years later.
So in short, you’re mocking a faithful wife for something that isn’t any of our damn business anyway and has long since been disproven.
Good job Internet.
Thank you for this!
Finally a rebloggable version of this idiotic post.
